Along Wopsy Road, there is a dangerous curve that is called "The Devil's Elbow." The area is rumored to be haunted by a ghostly white lady that was believed to be a new bride on her honeymoon at the Wopsononock Hotel, which burned down long ago. The ghostly bride has been seen wandering along the road with a candle, possibly in search of her husband, whose body was never found after their carriage wrecked along the curve, killing the both of them. Stories say she is a hitchhiker ghost who stops young men to see if they are her husband. She is said to disappear from the car at the Devil's Elbow.
