Named after Matilda J. "Tillie" Pierce, the inn is reportedly haunted by several ghosts. Tillie lived at the inn during the Battle of Gettysburg in 1863. She watched the Union army come through the town, she provided soldiers with food and water, she even assisted nurses and doctors caring for wounded soldiers. Her account of the historic event is documented in a book she wrote called "At Gettysburg, Or What A Girl Saw and Heard Of The Battle."
Guest who have stayed at the inn can account for its hauntedness. Some have reported hearing people walk above them in the attic, others claim the feeling of someone sitting on the bed watching them, and then there's the soldier who walks down the stairs, enters a room, and then goes back up. The most haunted place in the inn is said to be the Blue Room. Email Haunt

thoroughly enjoyable experience, Pleasant and very helpful staff,, sitting on the back stairs early hours of the morning might not be everyone's Idea of fun, but for me it was heaven and intend to return in the very near future.
