The original part of this house was built in 1810. It was a house of shelter for the Confederate sharpshooters. At the time of the three-day conflict a civilian - a little girl - died during battle after she was accidentally shot. After battle, the house served as a hospital. Today the property is believed to be haunted by dozens of ghost, including that of a nurse named Mary. The cellar of the house is particularly haunting.

Cat And Perfume

We stayed in one of the original portions of the building. The room that we stayed in had a cat bed and a bell that was attached to one of the curtains. There was a note in one of the journals from somebody that had a previous day that said that they were awakened by the sound of a cat meowing. I want to say that I was awakened by a meowing sound, but the room that we stayed in was right next to the kitchen so I convinced myself that it could also be one of the kitchen doors opening and closing and creaking at 4:00 in the morning as they get ready for breakfast. One thing that I do find particularly interesting though is at one time I was awake and by what smelled like perfume sprayed right in my face. While checking out there is a sign above the cash register that says one of the spirits permeates the smell of roses when she's in the area. I feel like I was visited by this particular spirit. I tried to scare my friend by saying if there are any free spirits in the area that want to go home with me, you are welcome to. I told my family and a couple co-workers and one of my friends these stories and they did not believe me and one time at work a coworker told me to come over to his desk and I smelled the same smell that I was woken up by.
