Pennhurst State School and Hospital was not an asylum! The haunted attraction was named "Pennhurst Asylum" The documentary had nothing to do with the lawsuit. It brought awareness of what institutions were like. Pennhurst was only one of many in Pennsylvania. There are still a few in operation today. You can visit Pennhurst Asylum and get a "Ghost Hunt" ticket. There are no actors in the building to scare you. You can visit the museum and talk to two past employees. There were a lot of positive things occurring at Pennhurst, sadly everyone likes to focus on the negative.

The best
Best haunted attraction I go to every year, the feelings of dread and sadness can be over whelming. They all do a great job with the attraction, but when you educate yourself on the history, it's just unbelievable. I would love to do just a tour of the place sometime.

Sad but true
I've gone every year, usually a couple times a year, to their haunted attraction. The place has a definite feeling of sadness and desparation to it. Very interesting to learn more and more about it as every year they seem to add more info and artifacts. They recently had their 1st day tour of the facility to educate ppl more about it and on the paranormal aspect of it. I had been looking forward to it for months, only to find out it was improperly set up and sold out online over 2 weeks before the event. What made it worse was a year prior, my husband and I had signed a petition for this event to happen from the owners!
